PIANO:
Students may begin and continue in our piano program as early as age four through adulthood. All levels are taught in traditional and jazz methods in either group, partner, or private lessons.
1. Group instruction is highly recommended for all beginning students with 3 to 4 students per class. Group instruction encompasses interaction among students by performance, games, rhythm, movement, ensembles, and private time with instructor. The students love to be a part of a musical team. Group instruction provides a positive learning environment and gives parents a core group within which they can exchange ideas and know that all feel music education is vital to the development of their child. Group instruction usually motivates students in a positive and fun manner. Also group instruction has many benefits for the shy student's development in self-esteem and self-confidence.
- 4 & 5 year olds meet for 45 minutes per week.
- All other beginners meet for 60 minutes per week.
- All other students meet for 75 minutes per week.
- 4 & 5 year olds meet for 35 minutes per week.
- All other beginers meet for 45 minutes per week.
- All returning students meet for 50 minutes per week.
3. Private instruction is offered for students of all ages.
- 4 & 5 year olds meet for 30 minutes per week.
- All other students meet for 40 minutes per week.
- Depending upon the commitment, ability, and level students are encouraged to extend their weekly lesson time to 60 minutes per week.
4. Group and Private Combination are offered for those students who want to learn with their peers and also want to have more private time.
VIOLIN:
The Suzuki and Traditional methods are taught to the very young. Parents are encouraged to attend lessons of students younger than third grade. It has been demonstrated that students progress at a faster rate when they have a practice partner at home. Upon request after a student has master primer and level one skills he or she may be introduced to fiddle. Instruction in the areas of cello and viola begin at the age of eight.
