4. Strive to attend your student's class each semester.
5. If you have any concerns, Mrs. Stubbs is available by appointment to speak with you.
Attendance & Safety Policy:
Students under the age of 10 must be escorted to and from classes by an adult. Failure to comply with this policy will result in dismissal from the program. It is necessary for students to arrive on time and be picked up immediately following their class.
Make-up Lessons:
1. If instructor is notified 24 hours in advance that a student is unable to attend his lesson then the instructor will provide one make-up per semester. Each instructor schedules the make-ups for his/her students. The lessons are often taught in Master Class format.
2. If you know that you will be out of town on your lesson day please discuss with your instructor other times.
3. Make-up lessons are NOT carried over to another semester. Please understand that your instructor is at The Arts at Good Samaritan prepared to teach and is paid for that time, regardless of whether or not the student attends.
Instructor's Absence:
If an instructor is absent, a substitute will be arranged. If this is not possible, then it is the instructor's responsibility to make-up the lesson within thirty days at a convenient time for both parties involved, and it is given as a normal lesson.
Behavior Policy:
We desire to maintain a quiet, learning environment; therefore, students, siblings, and parents are asked to remain quite while waiting. There is to be no running in the hallways and to keep noise to a minimum at all times as a courtesy to other students, faculty, and church staff.
Recitals and Performance Opportunities:
The Arts at Good Samaritan will offer recital and performance opportunities each semester. Students will be encouraged to share their talents in recitals, outreach performances to the community, and in worship services. A calendar will be provided at the beginning of Fall Semester that will provide the major recital dates for the academic year. Recitals are not require but are highly encouraged and open to all students with parent and instructor approval.
Accompanist:
If an accompanist is needed, it is the student and parent's responsibility with their instructor's recommendations to locate and to pay the accompanist for one rehearsal and one performance. The accompanist fee will vary between $20 and $80 based upon the difficulty and length of the solo.
Performance Attire:
The Arts at Good Samaritan has set a standard for our performance events. Students should be in "dressy" attire. Formal dress is not required. Jeans, shorts, athletic wear, sneakers and flip-flops are prohibited. Dress/skirt should be long enough to be appropriate for on-stage appearance.
NO Music at Lesson:
If a student forgets his music for his lesson three times, an additional set is purchased and the parent will pay for the second set of books that will be kept at The Arts at Good Samaritan.
Vacation Periods:
During the school year The Arts at Good Samaritan strives to follow the public school schedule. However, lessons are taught on Teacher Planning Days. The Arts will be closed for Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Winter Break, New Year's Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, and Fourth of July.
Weather Related Closings:
For hurricanes and other acts of nature or national emergencies in which we have no control, The Arts at Good Samaritan will abide by the national, state, or local authorities decisions on office and school closings! These missed lessons are not make-up.
Emergency Lock-Downs:
If The Arts at Good Samaritan is notified by the local law enforcement of the necessity of a lock-down in our area, we will follow that advisory and you may be assured of your student(s) safety.
Withdrawal:
Students may withdraw from instruction only at the end of a semester. Non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal. The tuition fee is still paid. Only in the case of pre-arranged extended absence or a family emergency will tuition be waived. If a REAL problem develops make an appointment with Mrs. Stubbs to discuss your options.
